Click like. Reload the page (for some reason this isn't yet showing up without reload). The 'like' will indicate that you liked it. Same for other response verbs like consensus (voting) and event attendance.

This actually came from a Friendica issue. Like is a toggle; but without looking for yourself in the list of likers there's no easy way from looking at the post that you liked it; and therefore it's easy to like it again without realising you just undid the previous action. Eventually we want to have a completely different action to 'remove your like' but this is a short term solution to the problem.

Most likely it's a race condition with a second window/tab that runs the search for unseen items and marks them seen before the current window hits the server with the same request.

People often criticise me for having superfluous parentheses, but it's things like this which makes me not care what they think. For instance I almost always put parens around tertiary conditionals (($x) ? y : $z). I spent a good 30+ years programming in C and in C the parens are mandatory; as tertiary conditionals are at the bottom of the operator precedence stack, even below bitwise AND/OR/NOT iirc. Without them you'll get a different logic flow (and a bug) almost 99% of the time.
